Why join

The re-launched Muslim Institute aims to be an entirely new kind of organisation serving a particular and pressing need within the British Muslim community and wider society. The Institute exists to serve and facilitate its Fellows, people who have made substantial contributions through research, scholarship, writing, teaching, media work, work in the arts and design, music and performing arts, community engagement, policy and by developing civil society.

Fellows of the Institute play an active role in shaping and developing the activities of a learned society intent on meeting the intellectual, educational and creative gaps within the British Muslim community. The Institute seeks to play a proactive role in improving channels of communication and make positive contributions to policy formation and public debate as an engaged participant in the life of British society.

  • Fellows receive free copies of the Institute's journal, monographs, newsletter and other publications.
  • Fellows participate in the Institute's Summer Conference and Winter Gatherings, and other events.
  • Fellows have exclusive access to web based special interest and project groups to support, encourage, and further the work and concerns of the diversity of its membership.
  • Fellows participate in shaping the Institute's agenda and programmes, and play an active role in the nomination of new Fellows.
